Guide: Redfox High Performance – Cut Down

A few years ago, Gugu Bernardino (Redfox, Brazil) set the standard for 1:24 guides with the first Redfox "The Guide" – to this day, these guides are at the forefront of racing on wooden and many Carrera tracks. The new Redfox "High Performance" in the cut-down version is precisely this consistent evolution: a more stable stop, improved brush path, and a modified shaft position – all to prevent the guide from being jammed in the slot and to ensure a more stable car.

What's new?

  • Reinforced side stop: No more time lost due to guides jamming laterally – the stop is more robust and guides the guide cleanly in the slot. A real advantage, especially on faster wooden tracks
  • Slightly outward-sloping underside: The brushes maintain a clean contact for longer and retain their shape because they are not bent as much. This results in more consistent contact and therefore more consistent lap times
  • Brush positioned very far forward: The car becomes more stable because the brushes work further forward and "pitch" less. This is precisely what the new Redfox variants with their rearward-positioned shafts achieve: the chassis is virtually lengthened and runs more stably
  • Hard, smooth Redfox material: Redfox has been using this very smooth, impact-resistant material for years – low friction in the slot, yet not as brittle as very hard nylon blends

Practical tips:

  • Carrera track: Shorten the blade to approximately 7 mm so that the guide doesn't touch the track – Carrera has a shallower slot than most wooden tracks
  • Altitude play: Tighten the new "High Performance" slightly more than the old "The Guide" – i.e., tighten the guide nut a notch
  • Sanding for speed: If the car has enough grip, you can slightly chamfer the guide at the front and rear. This reduces friction in the slot and results in a freer run for the car – especially in fast sections. But only sand minimally, otherwise you'll lose guidance in the slot and therefore grip
