You know how it is: During the race or right after removing the tires, they are perfect – two weeks later they feel drier and the car doesn't have the same bite. This isn't (just) due to the setup, but because the tires slowly harden when exposed to air and thus lose grip. That's exactly what the tire container is for: Put the tires in after practice or the race, close the lid, less air, less drying. This way, the good sets stay good for longer.
Why store anything at all?
Foam rubber tires – and generally soft slot car tires – react to air, light, and sometimes even to residues of cleaning agents. Storing them in an airtight or protected container keeps them soft and helps them retain their performance longer. Many racers even pack them in small boxes or bags. Your tire container does exactly that job, only clean and reusable.
