High-quality slot car axles are hardened, straightened, and often even polished again to ensure they are perfectly straight and cause minimal friction in the bearings. This is precisely the standard behind the Sigma axle.
What defines the sigma axle:
Hardened and polished surface: Ensures very low friction in the bearing and protects the bearing bushings
High dimensional accuracy / straight axle: Important for smooth running of the rim and gear. Less vibration = more grip on the track
Crash-resistant: The hardened axle is more forgiving of minor impacts and typical racing contact than soft standard axles. This is particularly important in clubs or with narrow car bodies
